Biography

Nicky is a programme leader for the Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship, and lecturer in people management at The University of Salford, within Salford Business School. With 13 years’ experience in education, Nicky has worked in both further education and higher education, with industry background in fashion design, leisure and hospitality and food retail sales.
Apart from teaching commitments, Nicky has a background of working with employers to support learners in becoming ready for the world of work, specifically in the 16-18 provision. As a lecturer in further education, Nicky also worked on The Career Ready Programme with senior personnel from local industry, supporting learners in securing mentors and work-based placement opportunities.
For her MSc, Nicky’s research focused on the effectiveness of continuing professional development for higher education practitioners in a further education setting. Other research areas of interest include the benefits of employability opportunities in undergraduate study, higher apprenticeships vs. non- apprenticeship study and blended learning in higher education.
