Biography
I am a Lecturer in Economics with research interests spanning macroeconomics, ecological economics, and political economy. I am currently completing a PhD focused on Green GDP and environmental accounting, examining how environmental damage and climate-related events can be better integrated into national accounting frameworks, with a particular interest in comparative contexts between developed and developing economies.
My wider academic interests include contemporary politics, macroeconomic policy, and the political and economic challenges facing Venezuela. Alongside my academic work, I am actively involved with Tutor Trust, supporting widening participation and educational attainment through tutoring, outreach, and partnership work with schools and students.
Areas of Research
Ecological economics and Green GDP, with a focus on integrating environmental damage and climate-related risks into national accounting frameworks
Macroeconomics and political economy, particularly the interaction between economic policy, institutions, and sustainability
Environmental and economic impacts of climate-related events, including flooding and natural disasters
Comparative economic analysis between developed and developing economies
The political economy of Venezuela and Latin America, with emphasis on macroeconomic instability, resource dependence, and policy responses
My teaching focuses on making economics accessible, applied, and relevant to real-world challenges. I have experience teaching across undergraduate levels in areas including microeconomics, macroeconomics, international finance, and the future of business, with a strong emphasis on contemporary policy issues, sustainability, and climate change.
I adopt an active and inclusive learning approach, using case studies, data-driven analysis, simulations, and scenario-based activities to support student engagement and critical thinking. I am particularly interested in embedding sustainability, climate literacy, and employability skills into the economics curriculum, and in supporting widening participation through inclusive assessment design and academic support.
