Biography

Lynda qualified as a social worker 35 years ago. She initially worked as a social worker in Manchester working with people who had substance use issues. She then moved into working in the voluntary sector, specifically working with people who are living with HIV and / or subject to immigration control. These remain two areas of interest and expertise to Lynda.
In 2021, Lynda completed a PhD on the intersection of domestic abuse and HIV among women, and she currently lectures in Social Work at the University of Salford, where she is Programme Lead for the Step Up to Social Work Programme. Lynda has been a Practice Educator for social work students on practice placements for 30 years and this is an area of interest and expertise. She has supported a wide range of students, predominantly in the charitable and voluntary sector.
Lynda was awarded the Senior Fellowship in Advance HE in 2024 as a recognition of the impact and reach of her teaching.
