Clinical Educator for Trainee Nursing Associates
Biography
Lucy joined the University of Salford in 2018 as a Clinical Educator for the Trainee Nursing Associate (TNA) Foundation Degree Apprenticeship Programme. Lucy completed a first degree in Social Psychology and subsequently undertook her Registered Mental Nurse training. Lucy has experience working in community mental health and later life inpatient functional and organic services and in practice development. Here she began developing a bespoke pain tool to improve pain assessment in patients with a severe cognitive impairment. Lucy presented this work at Dementia Congress and at the RCN Conference Fringe Event and developed Trust training for inpatient and community staff. Lucy was part of the student nurse inspection panels for the Keogh Review in 2013 and nominated for Student Mental Health Nurse of the Year in 2013. Lucy is Module Leader for Preparation for Professional Practice and contributes to and delivers the mental health content across the TNA programme. Lucy is currently completing a PgCert in Academic Practice. She is committed to widening opportunities for access to further education and development through adult learning and the TNA apprenticeship. Lucy enjoys supporting students both within the university and in clinical placements.
