Biography
Kostas Chaldoupis is a Lecturer in Procurement and Logistics at the Salford Business School, where he has been a member of the academic staff since October 2014. Prior to joining academia, he developed extensive industry experience in management consultancy and marketing, working with both public and private sector organisations on strategic business planning, innovation projects, and funding initiatives. His consultancy work included the development of business cases and project proposals that secured support through European Union programmes focused on research, innovation, competitiveness, and investment.
Kostas's research centres on the application and adoption of emerging technologies within manufacturing and healthcare systems, with a particular emphasis on Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing). His published research has explored the operational and performance benefits of additive manufacturing for standard healthcare components, contributing to a growing body of knowledge on technology-enabled improvements in healthcare delivery. His current work investigates the factors influencing the wider adoption and integration of additive manufacturing technologies across healthcare organisations and medical supply chains.
In addition to his research activities, Kostas actively contributes to the advancement of knowledge in the fields of operations, procurement, and supply chain management through academic peer review and scholarly service. He serves as a reviewer for the International Journal of Production Research, one of the leading international journals in operations and supply chain research. He has also reviewed new editions of prominent textbooks in operations management, procurement, and supply chain management, helping to shape educational resources used by students and practitioners worldwide.
Beyond his research and teaching responsibilities, Kostas supports academic quality and governance as a Submission Reviewer for Ethics Administration at the University of Salford. His combined academic expertise and industry background enable him to bridge theory and practice, bringing real-world insights into teaching, research, and engagement with industry partners.
