Biography

Dawn Wibberley is a lecturer in policing at University of Salford, and has worked across both the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA) and the Professional Policing Degree (PPD) programmes. Although I have been teaching policing for almost five years, I was a lecturer in Criminology for many years before that.

I am currently in the write-up phase of my PhD, with submission due in October 2025. My thesis is entitled: An exploration of public perceptions towards early intervention strategies for people who identify as having a sexual interest in children: A mixed methods study.

Recent research includes an evaluation of a Friends and Family Forum for Lucy Faithfull Foundation, a nationwide charity which specialises in the prevention of child sexual abuse. The evaluation involved exploring the psychological, emotional, physical and financial impact of indecent images of children offences on ‘indirect victims’ – children and non-offending partners.
