Biography

Dr Anjana Basnet is a Lecturer in International Business and Strategy at the University of Salford. She holds a First-Class BA (Hons) in Applied Accounting from Anglia Ruskin University, an MSc with Distinction in Corporate Social Responsibility from the University of Nottingham, and a PhD in Corporate Social Responsibility from Middlesex University.

Her research and scholarship focus on sustainability, corporate social responsibility (CSR), sustainability reporting and Responsible Management Education (RME). She is particularly interested in how organisations embed sustainability into strategy and practice, and how higher education can support the development of responsible and sustainable business leaders.

Dr Basnet is the UN Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) Coordinator at the University of Salford, where she works to integrate sustainability and responsible management across teaching, learning and engagement activities. She has led a range of initiatives to support sustainability education, including PRME workshops, curriculum development activities and contributions to Carbon Literacy education.

She is actively involved in the wider PRME community, serving as a judge for the PRME UK & Ireland student writing competition and contributing to sustainability and responsible management education networks. Her work has been presented at national and international conferences, reflecting her commitment to advancing sustainability through research, education and collaboration.

Areas of Research

Dr Basnet's research interests focus on sustainability, corporate social responsibility (CSR), sustainability reporting, environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues, and Responsible Management Education (RME). Her research examines how organisations integrate sustainability into strategy, governance, and decision-making, with particular emphasis on family-owned businesses, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and organisations operating in developing economies.

Dr Basnet's work also explores the role of higher education in developing responsible leaders, embedding sustainability into business curricula, and strengthening sustainability capabilities through education, industry engagement, and professional development.
