Top applicant questions - answered!

Can I follow the course on social media?

Our Dance team has a Twitter, Facebook and Instagram account you can follow.

Will there be professional networking events and opportunities during my studies?

Our dance teaching staff teaching style is industry-focused as they have been employed or are still employed in the industry. During your dance studies, you will meet and be taught by a wide range of dance professionals, many of whom will be part of your core teaching team.

During each academic year, you will also participate in professional masterclasses and industry-focused events, both on campus and at arts venues across Salford and Manchester. Here you can meet, dance with, and network with other dance professional artists and strengthen your knowledge of the dance scene.

Can I get involved in additional dance projects outside of my course?

All students get at least one opportunity per semester to perform their work in the New Adelphi theatre for an audience. This is sometimes to a live audience or is filmed for a digital stream.
We also encourage you to be part of choreographic work with other year groups and our MA students. This will deepen your choreographic experience and offers increased performance opportunities. We have recently been working with music students on developing our skills as dance improvisers and are excited to be running a monthly event in central Manchester.

Are there any additional costs on top of my course fees?

There are no additional fees, but we encourage you to watch as much live dance and theatre as possible. Often we receive discounted and free theatre tickets, but there may be times when you need to find these yourself. We also have a Dance At Salford branded clothing that you can purchase.

How accessible are the facilities?

Our rooms, buildings and spaces have been designed to cater for everyone's needs. They have disabled toilets, large lifts, large dressing rooms, and accessible entrance and exits points, so you don't need to worry about getting around.

Visit our partner, disabledGO for more information.

Can I access the studios outside of class time?

Our scheduled lessons usually take place between 09:00 and 18:00 each day. We sometimes run extended days when you are working on a project or towards a performance. Outside of the scheduled lessons, you can book the studios for self-practice and rehearsals.

Are there any opportunities for work experience and placements through the course?

Yes! Formal placements happen in the second year if you decide to take the optional module. Some of our recent placements have been with big arts organisations where students get involved in large-scale projects, whilst others have gone into schools and colleges learning about teaching and what that may involve.

Our facilities include:

  • Large and flexible dance studios
  • The purpose-built and flexible New Adelphi Theatre
  • An ampitheatre for outdoor performances
  • Computer and editing suites
  • Study rooms
