Salford Professor appointed to EDI role at Royal College of Nursing
Professor Vanessa Heaslip has been appointed to the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Committee at the Royal College of Nursing (RCN).
The RCN is the world’s largest nursing union and professional body for nurses with over half a million members, including nursing staff and students in the UK and internationally.
The EDI Committee provides advice, leadership and oversight to the development, implementation and delivery of the RCN's EDI strategy.
Vanessa, who is Professor of Nursing and Healthcare Equity at the University of Salford, leads national and international research projects focussed on health inequity in underserved groups and communities.
Vanessa said: “I am delighted to be joining the RCN EDI committee. It is fundamentally important that equity and inclusion is at the heart of nursing professional practice, and I am keen to utilise my skills and expertise in supporting the RCN to implement their Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy.”
