Healthcare CEO appointed Honorary Professor at the University of Salford

Categories: School of Health and Society

Lynda Holt (pictured), CEO of Health Service 360, has been appointed as an Honorary Professor by the University of Salford.

Lynda’s work is focused on creating social change through inclusion, agency and courageous leadership. Drawing on her vast expertise in coaching, neuroscience and psychology, Lynda is a driving force in the #EndPJparalysis campaign – tackling physical and psychological deconditioning, and in #BraverLeaders campaign which is aimed at creating improved workplace cultures.

She has a long career in healthcare, with a background in emergency nursing. Her NHS career took her from ward to board and she served as UK Chair for Royal College of Nursing Emergency Care Association for six years, leading nurses through periods of rapid role expansion and change.

Lynda established Health Service 360 to support people working in the global health sector, gradually expanding to support leaders and social entrepreneurs in many different sectors. As part of this she formed Brave Scene to help these people to lead courageously, to explore what's possible, and to make their contribution their way.

On her appointment, Lynda said: “It is a real privilege to be appointed as Honorary Professor in the School of Health and Society and to become part of the Centre for Leadership. I believe we are at a pivotal time in both health care and society more widely, a time where we have real opportunity to focus on connectedness and community and growing leaders who are courageous enough to tackle the thorny challenges of social change.

“In the end, it is each of us, not big organisations, religions or governments, that change the world, - little action by little action.

“I am delighted to be part of the University of Salford.”

Dean of the School of Health and Society, Professor Margaret Rowe, said: “We are so pleased to welcome Lynda to this honorary appointment. Lynda is a prominent leadership voice in healthcare with a wealth of experience and knowledge and she will be a fantastic asset to the University.”
