Open Access and subscription resources for Dental Implantology

The Library (in partnership with ICE) recommends the following Open Access and subscription resources for Dental Implantology:

  • Bentham OPEN - Runs The Open Dentistry Journal, showcasing peer-reviewed literature spanning implant procedures, case reports, and general oral health.
  • BMC (BioMed Central) - Part of Springer Nature, it hosts Open Access publications on implantology, tissue regeneration, and prosthodontics.
  • Dimensions Open Access E-Journals
  • Ebook Central - Our biggest eBook collection, with lots of titles on dental implantology and related topics. Access the link with your Salford email and password.
  • Free Medical Journals (online) - Carries journals in the dentistry field.
  • The Geneva Foundation for Medical Education and Research (online)
  • MDPI - Publishes the peer-reviewed, open-access Dentistry Journal, which covers oral surgery, digital dentistry, and craniofacial mechanics.
  • OMICS (Online) - Carries a wide variety of open access journals in oral health.
  • OVID Online - Ovid Medline should be accessed here and is a key resource for dentistry.
  • ScienceDirect - Peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters on medicine and dentistry. Includes emerging health and medical developments. To see Open Access content, filter by ‘open access and open archive’ via the access type on the left of the results page.
  • SpringerLink - Large collection of scientific documents from journals, books, series, protocols, reference works, and proceedings. Covers resources on dentistry, implantology, oral and maxillofacial surgery.
  • Wiley - Peer-reviewed primary research and survey journals across the life and physical sciences, technology, medicine, social science, and the humanities.

  • Please see your Reading List for access to physical and online resources from Library Search. Please have your student ID when accessing the physical collection in the Library.

Additional tools to support journal access

  • Unpaywall - ICE students - we recommend this tool to assist with access to millions of free research articles. Click the Unpaywall link to download. When you search on Google Scholar or other websites, a green tab will appear when an article can be read for free. If you have the Lean Library plugin, please remove or disable it as this may cause broken links.
