Databases

Databases are searchable collections of good quality, academic material, particularly journal articles. They can be small subject specific or large collections covering a wide range of subject areas. Most databases provide access to full-text items. 

Provides information on all aspects of the human impact on the environment and includes extensive content on global warming, green building, and much more. 
A great place to start a search on most subjects. Access to book chapters as well as articles is especially useful.
Explores the movement of peoples from Great Britain, Ireland, mainland Europe and Asia to the New World and Australasia.
Contains thousands of full text journals, magazines and newspapers to create an interdisciplinary database.
Provides a large collection of journals and books, mainly in the science, technology, engineering, and medicine subject areas.
The largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature. It also provides access to patents from five patent offices.
Gives access to Springer’s online collection of journals, eBooks, reference works and protocols across a vast range of subject disciplines.
A collection of citations, abstracts, full-text resources, multimedia sources and datasets about energy.

Journals

A journal is an academic magazine containing peer-reviewed articles written by researchers, professors, and other experts. Journals are intended for academic or technical audience and are useful tool to keep up to date with the latest developments in your field of study. 

Maps
Provides access to Land Cover Map data from the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology. This is a parcel-based classification of UK land cover derived from satellite images and digital cartography and gives land cover information for the entire UK. Land cover is based on UK Biodiversity Action Plan Broad Habitats.
Provides access to the valuable historic Ordnance Survey map collection online. The maps included are digital scans of Ordnance Survey paper map sheets.
Includes a variety of Ordnance Survey maps and licenced data.
Standards

A standard is an established norm or set of requirements which describe the best way of doing something. This can relate to products, the use of materials, or delivering a service. Standards cover a huge range of activities.

Contains officially recognised British, European (EN) and International (ISO) standards.
Provides technical standards for a wide range of materials, products, systems, and services.
A commercial website providing bibliographic details of standards produced by over 460 technical societies around the world.
Industry Websites

Industry websites provide information, resources, and updates related to a specific sector or type of business. They can be valuable resources for staying informed about industry trends, accessing research materials, and discovering more about organisations and industry professionals.

An online archive of aerial photographs dating from 1919 to 2006, charting the changing face of Britain in the 20th century. It includes the largest and most significant number of air photographs of Britain taken before 1939.
A good website for information on energy, particularly useful for current information and developments in renewable energy.
Search for records and find photographs of England’s archaeology, historic buildings and changing landscapes.
Online catalogue to Scotland's archaeology, buildings, industrial and maritime history.
Provides access to details of archaeological sites, monuments, buildings, and maritime sites in Wales.
A comprehensive list of archives and institutions that hold documentation on energy history.
A public body dedicated to improving the environment in England and Wales. This website provides information on a variety of environmental topics and current issues.
LinkedIn Learning

LinkedIn Learning offers more than 9,000 professionally produced online courses covering a wide range of technical, creative and professional skills.
