Choosing my study destination
“I chose to study in the UK because it provides one of the safest and most welcoming environments for international students. The diverse and inclusive culture of the country creates an ideal space for personal and professional growth, allowing students from different backgrounds to thrive and feel valued. Moreover, the UK is globally renowned for its excellence in education, particularly in healthcare management and leadership. The country has a long-standing history of pioneering management principles that have influenced systems worldwide. I was drawn to the opportunity to study in a system that blends theoretical knowledge with practical application, which is essential for excelling in healthcare administration. The curriculum in UK universities strongly emphasises critical thinking, problem-solving, and real-world scenarios which match my career aspirations.
I particularly liked the University of Salford because of its unique culture and strong commitment to supporting international students. The university fosters an inclusive environment, ensuring the wellbeing of all its students. Its expansive campus is also one of the most appealing aspects, offering a vibrant and enriching space for creative learning. I admired the massive celebration of all religious festivals at the University including the Festival of Colours and the Festival of Light.”
Academic life
“During my time at Salford, I received incredible support that played an important role in both my academic and personal growth. I always sought guidance from my professors, and they were consistently available to offer their expertise and mentorship. Their encouragement and assistance not only helped me excel academically but also gave me the confidence to engage more actively in discussions and group work.
My experience at Salford also introduced me to the academic and professional culture of the UK. I learned how to adapt to a system that values critical thinking, independent learning, and open communication. This exposure has prepared me to navigate diverse professional environments with confidence and adaptability.”
Life outside of studying
“Away from my academic life, I thoroughly enjoyed the vibrant events and celebrations at Salford, which gave me the opportunity to experience different cultures and bond with friends. I loved spending time at Atmosphere Bar, unwinding and enjoying good conversations. I have amazing memories from both campuses including sitting in Starbucks at the Frederick Road campus or relaxing in the canteen. These experiences added a special touch to my time at Salford and made it truly unforgettable.
I also worked part-time at Nando’s during my studies, which helped me develop strong teamwork, time management, and client service skills.”
Skills and expertise gained
“To gain practical exposure to the UK work environment, I took on a role as an Advisor in the Billing Department (EE Mobile) at Concentrix in Stockport. Here, I assist customers with billing inquiries and disputes, maintain accurate records, and collaborate with internal teams to resolve complex account issues. I ensure compliance with GDPR and data protection regulations while handling sensitive customer information and contribute to training new staff on billing procedures and customer service best practices.
During my degree, I developed a range of valuable skills that are highly beneficial in my current role at Concentrix. I gained confidence and overcame my initial fear of public speaking, which now allows me to communicate effectively and engage comfortably with people from diverse backgrounds. My leadership and management abilities were also enhanced through various group projects and presentations, where I learned how to guide teams, delegate tasks, and ensure successful outcomes. Additionally, my critical thinking, problem-solving, and time management skills were strengthened as I navigated academic challenges and adapted to the UK’s academic and professional culture. These experiences have prepared me to thrive in dynamic work environments and contribute effectively to my current and future roles.”
