Vicky Halliwell
Professor Vicky Halliwell joined the University of Salford as a Lecturer in Occupational Therapy in 2001. She has held various leadership roles during this time, including Programme Leader, Admissions Tutor, Head of Learning and Teaching, Associate Dean (Academic), Deputy Dean, and currently serves as Interim PVC Dean for the School of Health, Community and Life Sciences.
Beyond the University, Vicky is Chair of the Greater Manchester Allied Health Professions Council, where she has led on workforce strategy development and holds key roles in multiple integrated care workforce boards at both local and regional levels. At Salford, she is leading the development of the £55-million Health and Wellbeing building at the Frederick Road site, which will be a state-of-the-art facility designed to high sustainability standards. This hub will serve as a vital resource for healthcare training and the community. As a key component of the university’s Campus Connectivity plan, the building will directly benefit students, staff and the local community, while also playing a crucial role in enhancing the ongoing Salford Crescent development.
As Professor of Industry Collaboration in Health Care Education at Salford, Vicky is committed to workforce well-being, equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI), and strengthening partnerships across health and care sectors. She is a strong advocate for EDI, supporting under-represented groups and fosters environments that promote open dialogue and the practical application of inclusive practices. Beyond academia, she is a trustee at David Lewis, a charity supporting individuals with learning disabilities and autism, and she chairs the Board of Governors at their school.
