You’re warmly invited to join our student collective, a relaxed, real-time online space where neurodivergent students can connect, chat, and support one another. We meet once a month on Monday evenings.

Hosted by our Faculty of Health, Community and Life Sciences, this collective is open to students from any faculty in the University. Whether you’re newly diagnosed, awaiting a diagnosis, or self-identify as neurodivergent, we’re here to support you. Whether you’re navigating university life, looking to connect with others, or wanting to share your experiences or concerns, this is a space where you belong 💙

You’re welcome to take part in whatever way feels right: come along to listen, or share as much (or as little) as you like. All versions of you are welcome here.

We also regularly invite guest speakers to talk about topics that matter to neurodivergent students, offering insight, understanding, and practical support for your journey.

September's topic

Cath Woods from our Student Experience and Support team will be presenting "Different Minds, Shared Success: How We Support Neurodivergent Students".

Who runs the collective?

The Collective is facilitated by a small group of neurodivergent University staff who are here to help create a safe and supportive environment. Conversations are confidential and follow standard University guidelines.

There’s no need to book. Just come along online and join us as you are. We’d love to see you there! What to know more? Please contact our lead facilitator Jo Sullivan: J.M.Sullivan@salford.ac.uk.

"We started this collective in 2025 to create a supportive, inclusive space where students can share their stories, connect with one another, and feel heard. It’s a place for those who might not always feel able to speak up on their own - because no one should have to navigate their journey alone.

"I’ve been a Registered Nurse for 40 years and an academic for the past 10. I’m also dyslexic and a parent to three neurodivergent children, so both professionally and personally, I understand the challenges and strengths that come with thinking and experiencing the world differently.

"My work focuses on the lived experience of being an autistic nurse, and I’m deeply passionate about creating more inclusive environments for neurodivergent people across society. I know how isolating it can sometimes feel, and how much extra effort it can take to navigate systems that weren’t designed with you in mind.

"This collective is here to change that - together. If you’d like more information, please don’t hesitate to email me."
