School of Health and Society
This 30 credit Dynamic Studies (DS) module is for students who are enhancing their practice within the field of fluoroscopy. It is designed to enable you to develop your practical and diagnostic reporting skills within one area of fluoroscopy practice in a single academic year.
Dynamic Studies may be able to accommodate individual requirements for enhanced practice. For niche areas it may not be possible for the academic team to provide a full curriculum. Your mentor and clinical site will be required to provide subject specific teaching and you will need to supplement this with a large proportion of self-directed study. Method of Assessment:
You will be assessed by submission of a Clinical Record of Achievement, written assignment and a Viva Voce to demonstrate your enhanced clinical skills.
As a student on an MSc programme, you are expected to be an independent learner, be able to identify your own learning needs and work toward achieving them. The assessment strategy is designed to test the student’s competence and ability to reflect and learn.
DS must be completed alongside our Principles of Advanced Practice and Core Skills for Radiological Reporting modules. Completing the post graduate certificate will enable you to develop your skills to become competent in performing an imaging technique and to effectively formulate diagnoses and communicate your reports both verbally and in writing.
DS is also available as a standalone year 2 module or as part of your PGDip if the PAP and CSRR modules have previously been completed. Accreditation of prior learning may be possible if you acquired credits at another HEI.
DS is available as part of our MSc Advanced Medical Imaging.
Please note that it may not be possible to deliver the full list of options every year as this will depend on factors such as how many students choose a particular option. Exact modules may also vary in order to keep content current. When accepting your offer of a place to study on this programme, you should be aware that not all optional modules will be running each year. Your tutor will be able to advise you as to the available options on or before the start of the programme. Whilst the University tries to ensure that you are able to undertake your preferred options, it cannot guarantee this.
The module will be delivered using a blended learning approach. Some content will be delivered on campus at the University of Salford within our new imaging facility. The University’s Virtual Learning Environment, Blackboard Ultra, will be used for live online tutorials as well as providing students with directed learning resources and access to the library’s extensive databases to complete independent learning.
Our team consist of a team of academic and clinical experts. We collaborate with experienced honorary staff to develop up to date curriculum and student-centred learning. You will be supported by an academic personal tutor.
You will work under the supervision of a clinical mentor at your site to complete a clinical caseload. Your employer must provide a suitably qualified clinical mentor who will provide regular supervision and support you through your course and undertake periodic clinical reviews.

This module can be taken as stand-alone for the purposes of continuing professional development or as part of our MSc Advanced Medical Imaging programme.

These relationships will be of direct benefit to you because our academic team work in practice in some of these organisations at a senior level so are able to keep you at the forefront of developments in the sector which in turn help you provide a better service.
You will need access to a clinical caseload and this must be arranged in advance, the university are unable to provide a clinical placement.

Previous study and experience
You will hold a degree in BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography or other health care professional qualification, 2:1 or above.
For clinically related modules, you will also have access to a relevant imaging caseload and support of a clinical mentor. Regrettably, the University of Salford cannot undertake to find a clinical placement for you.
Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL)
We welcome applications from students who may not have formal/traditional entry criteria but who have relevant experience or the ability to pursue the course successfully.
The Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) process could help you to make your work and life experience count. The APL process can be used for entry onto courses or to give you exemptions from parts of your course.
Two forms of APL may be used for entry: the Accreditation of Prior Certificated Learning (APCL) or the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL).
