Biography

Wez joined the University in November 2022 as a Lecturer in Mental health Nursing.

He started his nursing career in the British Army, where he served for 19 years, first as an Intelligence Analyst, then later transferring to the Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps (QARANC) in 2007 to complete his nurse training (mental health) at the Defence School of Healthcare Studies, University of Birmingham. Since then he has completed a BSc in Psychology and Defence Healthcare, as well as a MSc in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

On leaving military service in 2017 he worked as a CPN for a national veterans mental health charity, providing treatment and support to veterans, and then moved to the NHS in 2020 to work as a BABCP accredited CBT therapist within the Veterans Mental Health Complex Treatment Service in the North of England.

Guest lectures across post registration programmes such as SPQ, CBT, specifically around psychological interventions for nurses, PTSD, CBT and trauma.
