Education for Sustainable Development Manager

Biography

I am the Education for Sustainable Development Manager at the University of Salford, based in the central Sustainability Office. The main purpose of my role is to develop a University wide and strategic approach to Education for Sustainable Development and deliver initiatives to help embed sustainability into the curricula across the institution, including providing staff development opportunities and leading on our participation in the SOS UK programme Responsible Futures.

I have previously worked in the Environmental Team within Estates & Facilities, working at Birmingham City University as an Environmental Officer in between my roles at Salford. I also have experience working in environmental education with a range of organisations, including Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, RSPB and The Barn Owl Foundation in Hungary.

Areas of Research

Education for Sustainable Development in the formal, informal and subliminal curricula, competencies for sustainability, transformative pedagogical approaches, collaboration between academics and professional services teams.

Teaching

I am here to provide advice and support to colleagues, to help them embed Education for Sustainable Development into their curricula. I also deliver guest lectures and seminars for a range of programmes.

Through my work, I want to ensure that students are supported to develop the knowledge, skills, values and behaviours necessary to be empowered and equipped to take action to support sustainability, and tackle and cope with the environmental, social and economic challenges we face today and in the future.
