Reader in Digital Technologies and Director of Postgraduate Research
BIOGRAPHY
I am a Reader in Digital Technologies and the Director of Post Graduate Research in Salford Business School. There are up to a 90 + Post Graduate Researchers in the School and I am currently supervisor 8 of them. I have seven completed PhDs and have examined 14 PhDs (7 internal and 7 external) . I am also Programme Leader on two PG programmes, (1) Managing Innovation and IT (MIIT) and (2) Digital Business. I am Module Leader on 6 different topics area all with a focus on technology and Business. I was also the Director for award winning Centre of Digital Business at Salford Business School. In 2018 I was proud to hold the external role of President of UKAIS that term ended in 2020 and I was the Vice-President for two year prior to that. Additionally, my time is now focussed upon my currently Digital Trustee role at a local homeless charity Emmaus Salford, where my efforts are contributing to embedding a digital strategy and introducing new ways https://emmaus.org.uk/salford/ of working. I have significant practical experience gained working on varied digital ‘live’ research projects, which have explored the commercial and societal implications of technological change. Having nine KTPs, has given invaluable insight into the ongoing issues facing organisation from managing people, to strategic planning to organisational change. My current research agenda centres upon digital business and the significances of digital technologies, innovation business models as enablers and value creators. This has informed a co-authored book (2020), ‘Strategic Digital Transformation: A results driven approach’. A second co-authored textbook (2022), ‘Researching Information Systems and Computing’ further demonstrates my research interests.

I teach on a number of different programmes at Salford Business School, including Level 4, Level 5, Level 6, Level 7 and in the Doctorate School but all of my teaching is related to the areas of digital business, Information Systems and research methodologies.
I am currently supervising 9 PhD students, in the areas of Information Governance, gender and IT, knowledge management, data driven businesses, innovation, digital transformation, green finance, digital skills and leadership.
My current research agenda centres upon digital business, digital (and all that brings) and the significances of digital technologies, innovation business models as enablers and value creators. This has informed a co-authored book (2020), ‘Strategic Digital Transformation: A results driven approach’. (with Fenton and Fletcher). A second co-authored textbook (2022), ‘Researching Information Systems and Computing’ further demonstrates my research interests in Information Systems (with Oates and McLean).
