Biography
I am a Surgical Advanced Clinical Practitioner specialised in general and colorectal surgery at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust.
I first gained my adult nursing registration in 2007 where I began my career as an operating theatre nurse, specialising in the fields of vascular surgery. I received my advanced scrub practitioner qualification, in 2011, and a master’s degree in surgical practice in 2017.
I have a specialist interest in acute skin and soft tissue abscess management as well as chronic pilonidal sinus disease management in younger adults.
In 2025 I achieved my doctorate which was focused on exploring the current clinical understanding of skin and soft tissue abscess management. This led me to begin designing and developing a novel abscess management device as a alternative to current practices.
Areas of Research
My current research interest is innovation through invention, especially within the profession of Nursing and Advanced Clinical Practice.
I am also interested in the holistic and qualitative experiences of patients, nurses and clinicians who are directly affected by clinical and surgical practices.
