Biography
Kathryn qualified as a midwife in 2001 at the University of Salford. She was offered a part-time secondment as a Practice Trainer within the Widening Participation, Assistant Practitioner programme. As part of this role Kathryn passed the PGCE in higher education alongside an NVQ assessor and internal verifier qualification.
Kathryn then secured a Community Infant Feeding Specialist role in a local trust and trained as a Lactation Consultant and Frenulotomy specialist whilst also working as a part-time lecturer practitioner at the University of Salford. She then moved into midwifery education as a full-time Lecturer in Midwifery and is now Programme Leader for Post RN MSc Midwifery, which is a shortened midwifery course for qualified adult nurses.
Kathryn is also the Admissions Lead for all of the pre-registration midwifery courses and also involved in all areas of recruitment. Her interests include the retention of student midwives and midwives in the NHS, public health, clinical skills and reflective practice.
Kathryn is currently part of team evaluating the infant feeding services in a local area, and is also a reviewer for the British Journal of Midwifery. She is also a registered Hypnotherapist and NLP Practitioner and is a member of the National Council of Hypnotherapy and also the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council.
