Biography
Ms Fleur Middlebrough is Subject Group Head and Senior Lecturer in Accounting at the University of Salford. She leads as Global Citizenship Coordinator within Salford Business School and works across curricula and the wider university on Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) projects. She is also Academic Champion for the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), leading several academic and practitioner-focused discussions that link accounting education with industry practice.
Ms Middlebrough’s professional activities extend beyond Salford. She serves as an External Examiner and has contributed as both a validation panel member and chair for external programme reviews, ensuring high academic standards and the continuous development of accounting and business education.
Her teaching and pedagogical practice focus on enhancing the student experience through innovative approaches such as the use of business simulations. She is also deeply engaged in sustainability and green accounting, embedding these principles into her teaching and curriculum development to prepare graduates for the challenges of a rapidly changing global economy.
Her wider academic interests include mentoring, supporting neurodiverse learners, widening participation, and addressing special educational needs in higher education. She is passionate about inclusive practice, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and international engagement, ensuring that students benefit from diverse perspectives and real-world contexts.
