Biography
Carlos Andrés Ramos Romero is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Acoustics at the Acoustics Research Centre of the University of Salford (since 2022) and a Member of the Institute of Acoustics IoA, UK. He investigates the relationships between the aeroacoustics of Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS), acoustic propagation, and psychoacoustic responses. As part of his work under the EPSRC project (EP/V031848/1), he developed methods for acoustic characterization, as well as sound synthesis of small UAS. He also has experience analyzing noise from conventional urban sources, such as road traffic. His previous research includes the automatic detection of superficial asphalt distress through tire/road noise signal processing and the application of Artificial Intelligence algorithms. Dr. Ramos Romero earned a Doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering from the “Universidad Politécnica de Madrid” (Spain, 2021) with support from the Ecuadorian Government’s SENESCYT International Postgraduate Grant (2017). Prior to this, he completed a Master’s degree in Acoustics and Vibrations at the “Universidad Austral de Chile” (Chile, 2017) and a Bachelor’s degree in Sound and Acoustics Engineering at the “Universidad de las Américas” (Ecuador, 2011).
