University society Quays TV to host National Student TV Awards
Quays TV, a University wide society, has won the race to host the annual National Student Television Awards and Conference. After joining for the first time last year and coming away with two major awards, the society wanted to take on the even bigger challenge of hosting.
With generous help from the University’s Conferencing team, 10 students have formed a committee to organise the huge event.
Quays TV is a University wide TV channel which all students are welcomed to be involved in.
3rd year student Joe Wilmot has taken the helm as the event’s Host Officer to organise the awards and showcase why the University of Salford is the perfect choice, having a campus in the creative hub that is MediaCityUK.
Our location, plus connections with industry and world-class facilities, made Salford the easy choice when voted for by the other 38 universities within the association.
Host Officer, Joe Wilmot, said “We’re expecting around 300 delegates who will get to hear from the best industry insiders in our MediaCityUK campus in the daytime. We’ll. I’m hoping these awards will put Quays TV and Salford’s exceptional facilities on the map.”
In the past the awards have been hosted by TV royalty like Matt Barbet and Lizo Mzimba.
The weekend event will start on Friday 3rd April 2020, where delegates will attend a welcome reception. Saturday will be filled with industry speakers, and the weekend will conclude in the evening with the awards ceremony, hosted at Imperial War Museum North.
