Salford University get involved in Climate Exp0

Across the week, Professor Andy Miah will host a series of public, live events with Anna-Maria White, a first-year undergraduate student on Wildlife Conservation with Zoo Biology . Broadcasting across digital channels, the events will bring speakers, students and audience together to talk about the key issues, insights, and concerns raised at the Exp0. 

Professor Miah said: “This is one of the most important contributions to be made by the UK university sector to informing COP26 and I’m really proud to be working with the incredible team around this event to elevate public awareness about some really crucial issues that need urgent responses.” 

 The Exp0 will also see Andy and Anna working with the film production behind a global campaign called ‘Act Now’, a crowdsourced film that will elevate the perspectives of 18-30 year olds from around the world to tell today’s global leadership community what they’re concerned about and what change they consider to be crucial to deal with the climate emergency. 

Anna said: "To have the opportunity to be involved with the Exp0 team and the conference provides a unique perspective as a young scientist in the field of conservation, especially ahead of COP26. Assisting the production of the 'Act Now' film which facilitates direct engagement with a younger audience and working within a dedicated team is truly an invaluable experience."

Anna said: "There is a lot to tackle with regards to climate change, but we must do it together. To have the opportunity to be involved with the Exp0 team and the conference provides a unique perspective as a young scientist in the field of conservation, especially ahead of COP26. Assisting the production of the 'Act Now' film which facilitates direct engagement with a younger audience, encouraging them to speak about key issues and concerns that they want to see policy makers address, I believe plays an integral role in progress as a global community. There are many issues that need to be addressed, and many voices that need to be heard; so, in enabling this connection to happen by working with a dedicated team is truly an invaluable experience."
