Salford researchers to explore money, finance and the cost of living at free Festival of Social Science events
Later this month, the University of Salford will host a series of free public events as part of the 2026 ESRC (Economic and Social Research Council) Festival of Social Science.
This year, the festival will run from Saturday, 17 October to Saturday, 7 November, with this year’s theme, ‘money, finance and the cost of living,’ examining how people approach financial giving, money habits and behaviours today.
The event celebrates and explores the impact of social sciences on the city around us, through a lively programme created for everyone from families and schoolchildren, to the general public and professionals.
Professor Francine Morris, Associate Dean Research and Knowledge Exchange, Faculty of SHAPE (Social Sciences, Humanities and the Arts for People and the Economy), comments: “The Festival of Social Science is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the impact of our research on the world around us and to engage with the communities we serve.
“This year’s programme offers a fascinating look at some of the social and economic issues shaping our lives, from money and financial behaviours to the wider cost-of-living challenges we face. We look forward to showcasing some of the impactful work our researchers here at the University are doing to support businesses, employers, policymakers and the general public.”
