Salford professor visits India for inaugural World Technology Summit
Professor Andy Miah, Ethics of Artificial Intelligence Champion at Salford, attended the inaugural World Technology Summit in India last week.
Hosted by MIT World Peace University, the inaugural World Technology Summit is a global effort to bring pioneers in STEM together to forge collaborations across key frontier sciences.
Overseen by the World Technology Group, the summit convenes global leaders to celebrate human ingenuity and to explore and shape the future role of technology, science and innovation for advancing human progress.
Prof Andy has been working with the World Technology Group over the last 6 months and was recently appointed Commission Lead for one of its key work strands, focused on academia, innovation, and impact.
From live panels to debates, the Word Technology Summit encourages thought leaders from around the world to engage in important conversations and help shape the actions of tomorrow.
Prof Andy Miah said: “There is so much development around higher education in India at the moment and it’s very exciting that Salford has the opportunity to get involved in being a member of a founding partnership alongside the MIT World Peace University. We are at a pivotal time in human history and global cooperation is essential to securing humanity’s future.
While Prof Andy has been the starting point for a partnership, he is keen to flag the interests of the University becoming a founding member of the partnership by attempting to grow our participation in subsequent events.
These will include the first World Technology Games which will take place in Sydney next September, which has been likened to the Olympic Games for the knowledge sector.
