Salford launches video series for International Women’s Day
To mark International Women’s Day 2026, the University of Salford is launching a short-form video series aligned to this year’s theme, Give to Gain.
Shared across a full week on LinkedIn, the series brings together academics, students, alumni and industry partners to explore what gender equality really looks like in practice, moving beyond awareness-raising to focus on evidence, leadership, accountability and action.
The campaign reflects the University’s commitment to research-led social justice, inclusive leadership and widening access, showcasing both academic expertise and lived experience from across the Salford community and beyond.
#GiveToGain
This year’s International Women’s Day theme, Give to Gain, encourages a mindset of generosity and collaboration. It highlights the power of reciprocity – how giving time, knowledge, support and advocacy helps create opportunities for women and girls.
Giving is not a subtraction; it’s an intentional multiplication. When women thrive, communities, organisations and societies benefit.
Voices from across the Salford community
The video series centres women’s voices from different sectors and stages of life, combining:
- Student perspectives, reflecting on support, opportunity and finding their voice
- Academic and research insight, exploring wellbeing across the life course, representation, data, accountability and invisible inequalities
- Alumni and industry leadership, sharing experiences of mentoring, sponsorship, advocacy and opening doors for others
Across the week, contributors reflect on why International Women’s Day still matters, what gender equality looks like in practice, and what individuals and institutions must do to create lasting change.
The International Women’s Day video series will be shared on the University of Salford’s LinkedIn channel throughout the week surrounding Sunday 8 March, joining the global conversation around Give to Gain.
