Salford celebrates HackCamp 2022 Winners

Categories: School of Science, Engineering and Environment

The University of Salford has celebrated the winners of its annual HackCamp programme at a special event held on its main campus.

HackCamp allows Computer Science and Software Engineering students the opportunity to collaborate and build a piece of software in response to an industry brief with this year seeing the participation of nine industry partners. Over 170 students took part in the programme where they approached a range of challenges, including dynamic user experience, customer feedback aggregation and placement search.

Dr Julian Bass, Head of Computer Science and Software Engineering at Salford said: “HackCamp not only provides our students with the opportunity to put their software development and agile project management knowledge into practice, but to learn business skills that will be vital to their progression in industry: client management, presentation and communication, handling expectations, and teamwork.

“The programme is the perfect opportunity for Salford students to enhance their employability and work with our industry partners. Whilst HackCamp 2022 was held online, we were pleased to host the Prize Giving Ceremony to bring everyone together and celebrate the hard work of our students.”

The 2022 judging panel included representatives from AJ Bell, Add Energy, and IRIS.

At the Prize Giving Ceremony, students had the chance to network with industry partners, gain an insight into working in industry, and applaud their incredible work.
