Categories: School of Health and Society

Congratulations to Dr Julia Ryan, Director of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Salford, who has been shortlisted in the ‘Educator of the Year’ category at the national Student Nursing Times Awards.

On hearing that she had been shortlisted, Julia said: “I am thrilled and honoured to be shortlisted for this award. I see this as recognition not for myself but the fantastic colleagues I have been privileged to work with throughout my career in nursing education.”

Professor Margaret Rowe, Dean of the School of Health and Society, said: “I am delighted to hear that Julia has been shortlisted for this award. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated incredible commitment, motivation and dedication and is an outstanding example of nursing practice, education and research. She is a role model for all nursing and midwifery students, colleagues and practice partners.

“Julia is a passionate advocate for care and has always ensured that students and her colleagues are encouraged and nurtured. As so many nurses have demonstrated through the pandemic, her resilience, aptitude and dedication to developing nursing practice and maintaining the future workforce for Greater Manchester has been outstanding.”

Highlighting excellence in all specialities of student nursing, the awards not only recognise excellent nursing students but also provide the opportunity to congratulate the lecturers, practice supervisors, universities, trusts and private organisations providing the best support for student nurses during their studies.

The Student Nursing Times Awards will be celebrated on Friday 27 May 2022 at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane in London.
