Leading HR and legal expert joins University of Salford

The University of Salford Business School is delighted to announce that a leading HR expert has been appointed as an Honorary Fellow.

Alan Price is Chief Operation Officer at global employment law consultancy Peninsula and CEO of BrightHR, an international HR software and employment law advice service firm. He will join Salford for the next three years.

Alan said: “It’s a huge honour for me to be asked to become an Honorary Fellow at the University of Salford and one which I am delighted to accept. Having spent the majority of my professional career right here in Salford and knowing the excellent standards as a former student at the University, I’m very much looking forward to working with them to further develop and grow the business leaders of the future.”

Alan is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD with 18 years’ experience in employee relations, a Chartered Manager and Fellow of the CMI, a certified practitioner and Fellow of the AHRI (Australian Human Resources Institute), and a member of the Canadian Human Resource Professional Association.

In 2003, he was appointed to her Majesty’s Court and Tribunal Service and was one of the youngest judicial appointments to the Employment Tribunal Service, which he continues to hold.

From 2015 to 2019, Alan served as a charity trustee and Non-Executive Director for the global HR professional body, the CIPD, which represents over 140,000 HR professionals worldwide. 

Dr Francine Morris, Associate Dean, Enterprise and Engagement at Salford Business School said: “Alan will bring a huge amount of experience to this role and we are delighted to have him as part of our team. His solid commercial record and notable professional experience means he is well placed to help us understand the region’s skills gaps so that we can ensure that our students are prepared for work.”
