Launch of the IGNITION Living Lab
Next week (June 17), The University of Salford will be officially launching its Nature Based Solutions (NBS) Living Lab.
The Living Lab is part of the £4 million EU funded IGNITION project that brings together 12 partners across the Greater Manchester region who will collectively work together to establish innovative ways to build resilience to climate change.
The launch event will welcome Andy Burnham, Mayor of Manchester and Emma Howard Boyd, Chair of the Environment Agency as well an international panel of mayors. The University hosts are Professor Hisham Elkadi, Living Lab Principal Investigator and Professor Karl Dayson, Pro Vice- Chancellor of Research and Enterprise.
The event will give an insight into our research, a virtual tour of the Living Lab and we will be discussing the future of urban green infrastructure with our guests.

The University are the only academic partner in the project and as part its involvement it will be home to a Living Lab that will provide the much needed evidence needed to inspire businesses and investors to increase their use of NBS as a solution to the climate crisis.
The ground-breaking NBS Living Lab is located at the University’s main campus at Peel Park and is a site of interconnected nature-based solutions that includes a living wall, a rain garden, SuDS, green roofs and street trees.
