Categories: School of Arts, Media and Creative Technology

Huge congratulations to Fashion Design graduate Saif Ud Deen who has been selected as one of only three designers accepted onto Mr Porter's very first mentorship programme.

Mr Porter Futures aims to “find talented people with great ideas that deserve bigger audiences”. Manchester-based Saif beat off tough competition from hindered of applicants around the world to earn a coveted place working with the global online luxury retailer.

Saif will now begin a year-long design programme to turn his ideas into reality. Then, at the end of the year, his will debut their very own menswear collection.

A third-generation British Pakistani and practising Muslim, his designs are inspired by his local community and incorporate elements of streetwear and traditional Islamic attire. He describes his collection concept as “an autobiography of sorts, a culmination of my own experiences and how faith and fashion intertwine with the urban environment”.

Speaking to Mr Porter about what inspired him to study fashion at Salford, Saif said: “It was only once my dad encouraged me to pursue my passion that I said, right: this is what I want to do.”
