Depositing your thesis in USIR via Worktribe

All new research theses are added to the University of Salford’s Institutional Repository (USIR) via Worktribe with a Creative Commons licence.

Awards eligible for inclusion in USIR are: Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA), PhD by Published Works, Master of Philosophy (MPhil), Master of Science (by research) (MSc), Higher Doctorates Doctor of Letters (DLitt) and Doctor of Science (DSc).

By depositing in USIR via Worktribe you are agreeing to the USIR deposit agreement.

Making research theses open access online broadens their reach and enhances the visibility of researchers and Salford’s research. USIR also aids the long-term preservation of research theses.

Thesis deposit instructions are available on the Doctoral School Hub.

Theses and Data

Your thesis will be openly available after you have deposited it into USIR. It is vitally important to consider whether the thesis contains any sensitive data and to ensure the rights of research participants are protected.

Sensitive data can only be included in your thesis when this has been planned and agreed before collection. To safely share sensitive data, you will need to obtain informed consent from research participants to do so and protect their identities through anonymisation techniques.

Where you are unable to include data within your thesis due to sensitivity or any other concerns, you should use the University’s data repository, Figshare. Research data can be securely deposited in Figshare and access can be restricted in cases where the information is sensitive. Data deposited in Figshare should be linked to your research findings via a Data Access Statement in your thesis.

More information on sensitive data can be found in our Ethical and Legal Compliance guidance. You can also find further details on how to use Figshare.
