Chief Strategy and Data Officer
Jackie Njoroge originally joined the University of Salford in 2016 as the institution’s first Director of Strategy. Before joining Salford, her early career was rooted in the steel industry, where she worked in financial planning and management. Transitioning to Higher Education in 2003, Jackie eventually specialized in strategic planning and performance. She later led the Strategic Planning and Management Information team at Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU), where she played a key role in transforming the university’s strategic planning approach.
Today, Jackie acts as Chief Strategy and Data Officer at the University of Salford, where she has been instrumental in shaping the university’s strategic direction, enhancing its data-driven decision-making capabilities, and leading on risk management. Her leadership in this area has been recognized with industry accolades, including an award for the implementation of a business intelligence solution at Northumbria University. Jackie is also an active member of Senate, Finance and Resource Committee, and Audit and Risk Committee. She further attends Council, which is central to overseeing the University's strategic direction, managing finances and property, and ensuring legal and regulatory compliance. Jackie is passionate about promoting equity, diversity and inclusion across Higher Education, and has spoken at several EDI events across the years, including events focusing on the menopause.
