Our Enhanced Practice programmes are designed to help health and social care professionals develop the advanced knowledge, confidence and leadership skills needed to thrive in complex clinical environments.

As one of the leads in the development of the National AHP Enhanced Level Practice Schema and Curricula, the University of Salford is uniquely positioned to support your progression to Enhanced Practice level. We work closely with healthcare providers, NHS organisations and professional bodies to ensure our teaching reflects current practice and workforce needs.

PgCert Enhanced Practice

Designed for healthcare professionals who want to advance their practice through postgraduate study while continuing to work in their current role. Note, this route is for self-funded applicants.

This flexible programme enables you to develop enhanced-level capabilities that can be applied directly within your workplace. Whether you are looking to strengthen your expertise within a specialist area, prepare for greater responsibility within your team, or take the next step towards Advanced Practice, the PgCert provides a recognised and supportive route for professional development.

Enhanced Clinical Practitioner Apprenticeship

Combine academic study with employment through a structured apprenticeship pathway.

You’ll learn through a blend of university teaching, work-based projects, reflective practice and supported clinical development, enabling you to make an immediate impact within your service while progressing your career. The qualification also provides a foundation for progression to Advanced Practice or further postgraduate study.

Our flexible approach means your learning can be tailored to your specific area of practice.  

Examples of specialisms include frailty and healthy aging, diabetes care, children and young people’s services, gait and movement analysis, population health, and orthotic interventions. 

If your area of practice is highly specific, you will be able to work with academic tutors to create a personalised learning plan aligned to your professional role and goals.
