BSc (Hons) Psychology with English Language

If you often find yourself wondering how we learn language, or how language is linked to human behaviour, consider applying for our BSc (Hons) Psychology with English Language degree. By studying two complementary – yet diverse – disciplines, you will gain the skills you need to work in a wide range of settings. Possible career options include speech and lanugage therapy, journalism, marketing and teaching. You can also further your studies with a postgraduate qualification, specialising in areas such as educational psychology, clinical psychology or occupational psychology.

BSc (Hons) Psychology of Human and Animal Behaviour

This exciting new course will give you a thorough grounding in the study of both human and animal behaviour. As part of this applied psychology degree, you will be introduced to the fundamentals of psychology and human-animal interaction. You’ll acquire a range of key skills in statistical analysis and research design methodology, as well as being given the opportunity to tailor your studies to the subject areas that interest you the most. Our modules include animal therapy, animal cognition and the psychology of mental health.

As a student at the University of Salford, you will gain access to a brand new Animal Management Centre that offers outstanding facilities – from small mammal enclosures to zoo zones and hedgehog rehabilitation facilities. And it doesn’t end there. Inside the centre there is a large aquarium, a well-stocked exotic collection and a nocturnal room. What’s more, the department also boasts three science labs, a microbiology lab and a veterinary nursing suite – all created in line with industry standards.

BSc (Hons) Psychology of Sport

Do you have a passion for sport and exercise? Are you interested in how world-class athletes train their minds, as well as their bodies? Our BSc (Hons) Psychology of Sport degree provides an excellent foundation for any student interested in pursuing a career as a psychologist, with a particular focus on sport and exercise. This course offers you the chance to study in an excellent department equipped with state-of-the-art psychology and sports facilities, including:

  • A world-class human performance laboratory, which contains almost every type of physiological, performance analysis and bio-mechanical testing equipment, including a 30-metre sprint track with inbuilt force platforms, motion capture systems, blood and gas analysis equipment and speed guns
  • A physiological testing laboratory and fully equipped strength and conditioning suite, which includes an isokinetic dynamometer and portable force platforms

As part of this sport and psychology degree, you will complete modules that explore the psychology of exercise and health, and the practical applications of sports and exercise psychology.

BSc (Hons) Psychology and Criminology

Crime is one of the biggest problems facing society today. To understand the complex issues surrounding it, we have combined two areas of study that have a natural affinity – giving you a degree that will make a real difference. Psychology focuses on the study of human behaviour, while criminology involves analysing crime and deviance, as well as the role of the media in representing such behaviour. By studying this criminology and psychology degree, you’ll be equipped to work in a number of environments, such as health and social care, criminal justice institutions and the prison service.
