BSc (Hons) Chemistry

Accredited by the Royal Society of Chemistry, our BSc (Hons) Chemistry degree is designed to ensure you are ready for future employment. You will learn essential knowledge in organic, physical and analytical chemistry to become a highly skilled chemist who can work in a range of modern chemical industries.

We pride ourselves on our research. In your last year, you will carry out an exciting and inspiring research project on a topic of your choice. This could include drug design, cancer and antimicrobial research, or nanotechnology.

On our chemistry clearing courses, you’ll also have the opportunity to take part in an industry placement whilst studying with us. Recent chemistry students have undertaken placements at our on-campus research charity, Kidscan, as well as external organisations, such as the Respiratory Physiology Unit at the Royal Aintree Hospital in Liverpool, AstraZeneca in Cheshire, the Cancer Research UK Manchester Institute, and the Hochschule in Bremen, North Germany.

BSc (Hons) Biochemistry with Foundation Year

Our BSc (Hons) Biochemistry with Foundation Year is designed to help you build a strong foundational knowledge in both biology and chemistry, so you are ready to progress and succeed on the full honours degree.

The full BSc (Hons) Biochemistry degree is accredited by the Royal Society of Biology, meaning you will develop a solid academic foundation in biological knowledge, ready for future employment.

This biochemistry clearing degree focuses on providing you with cutting-edge scientific knowledge and techniques. You will understand how organisms work at the molecular level in the fields of agriculture, medicine, and chemical and health-related industries.

BSc (Hons) Biochemistry

Our BSc (Hons) Biochemistry is at the heart of cutting-edge research. You will have the opportunity to explore the areas that most interest you, including biotechnology, toxicology, and much more.

BSc (Hons) Biochemistry with Studies in the USA

Want to combine studying with visiting America? Then our BSc (Hons) Biochemistry with Studies in the USA is for you.

This course includes a year of study at the University of Toledo, Ohio, a leading centre for science with a reputation for taking research from the laboratory to the world.

Like the rest of our biochemistry clearing courses, this degree is also accredited by the Royal Society of Biology. This accreditation will prepare you to meet the needs of future employers and embark on a career in research that helps to solve real-world issues.

BSc (Hons) Pharmaceutical Science with Foundation Year

Our BSc (Hons) Pharmaceutical Science with Foundation Year is recommended if you want to develop your career in biosciences but have a non-scientific background, or you don’t meet the entry requirements for direct entry to an honours degree. 

The full BSc (Hons) Pharmaceutical Science degree is accredited by the Royal Society of Biology. Once you have successfully completed your foundation year and progress onto the full degree, you will build your academic knowledge and skills to join the next generation of scientists who design drugs that improve quality of life and can tackle pandemics and diseases.

BSc (Hons) Pharmaceutical Science

Our BSc (Hons) Pharmaceutical Science is designed to ensure you can join the next generation of scientists applying new knowledge to create new treatments and interventions. This course is accredited by the Royal Society of Biology. Studying an accredited course is an ideal way to show future employers you have the skills and knowledge they are looking for in graduates. It also has the benefit of greater employability prospects and enhanced competitiveness in a crowded global jobs market.

On this course, you’ll have the option to take an industry placement between years two and three. Recent Pharmaceutical Science students have been offered placements at Pfizer in Kent, the Transplant Centre at Wythenshawe Hospital, and the Cancer Research UK Manchester Institute.

You will have to find the placement yourself, but you will get plenty of support from your lecturers to find one that’s right for you.
