BSc (Hons) Chemistry

Accredited by the Royal Society of Chemistry, our BSc (Hons) Chemistry Clearing degree is designed to ensure you are ready for future employment. You will learn essential knowledge in organic, physical, and analytical chemistry to become a highly skilled chemist who can work in a range of modern chemical industries.

We pride ourselves on our research. In your last year, you will carry out an exciting and inspiring research project on a topic of your choice. This could include drug design, cancer and antimicrobial research, or nanotechnology.

On our chemistry Clearing courses, you’ll also have the opportunity to take part in an industry placement whilst studying with us. Recent chemistry students have undertaken placements at our on-campus research charity, Kidscan, as well as external organisations, such as the Respiratory Physiology Unit at the Royal Aintree Hospital in Liverpool, AstraZeneca in Cheshire, the Cancer Research UK Manchester Institute, and the Hochschule in Bremen, North Germany.

BSc (Hons) Pharmaceutical Science

Our BSc (Hons) Pharmaceutical Science degree in Clearing is designed to ensure you can join the next generation of scientists applying new knowledge to create new treatments and interventions.

This course is accredited by the Royal Society of Biology. Studying an accredited course is an ideal way to show future employers you have the skills and knowledge they are looking for in graduates. On this pharmaceutical science course, you’ll have the option to take an industry placement between years two and three. Recent pharmaceutical science students have been offered placements at Pfizer in Kent, the Transplant Centre at Wythenshawe Hospital, and the Cancer Research UK Manchester Institute.

BSc (Hons) Pharmaceutical Science with Foundation Year

Our BSc (Hons) Pharmaceutical Science with Foundation Year is recommended if you want to develop your career in biosciences but have a non-scientific background, or you don’t meet the entry requirements for direct entry to an honours degree. 

The full BSc (Hons) Pharmaceutical Science degree is accredited by the Royal Society of Biology. Once you have successfully completed your foundation year and progress onto the full degree, you will build your academic knowledge and skills to join the next generation of scientists who design drugs that improve quality of life and can tackle pandemics and diseases.
