Terms and conditions
Eligibility
- The Higher or Lower game is open to current students and staff of the University of Salford only.
- Participants may be asked to provide proof of their University of Salford affiliation, such as a valid student or staff ID card or university email address.
How to participate
- Participants can take part in the Higher or Lower game at designated Eat and Drink on Campus promotional events.
- A Student Ambassador will select four playing cards at random and reveal the first card to the participant.
- The participant must then guess whether the next card will be higher or lower in value than the card shown.
- Participants can make up to three guesses during each game.
- The Student Ambassador's decision regarding gameplay and outcomes is final.
Participation limits
- Participants may play once per day unless otherwise authorised by event staff.
- The Promoter reserves the right to refuse repeat participation where it reasonably believes this condition has not been met.
Prizes
- All participants will receive a reusable coffee cup for taking part, while stocks last.
- Participants will receive one voucher for each correct guess, up to a maximum of three vouchers per game.
- Where multiple vouchers are won in the same game, each voucher awarded will be different.
Available vouchers may include:
- £5 credit to use at Maxwell and Allerton restaurants, cafés or convenience store
- 25% off a main meal at Maxwell and Allerton restaurants
- 50% off a medium hot drink at any Eat and Drink on Campus café
- Free drink with a main meal at Maxwell and Allerton restaurants
- Free medium Americano or medium tea with a breakfast item
- Free pastry with the purchase of a medium or large hot drink
- Free upgrade to a premium meal deal
- Vouchers are subject to availability and the University reserves the right to substitute any voucher offer with an alternative of equal or greater value.
Stock availability
- Reusable coffee cups are available while stocks last and are limited to approximately two boxes per day.
- If daily coffee cup stock is exhausted before 12:00, participants may instead receive a tote bag (subject to availability) and/or one voucher for taking part, regardless of whether they correctly guess the cards, to ensure no participant leaves empty-handed.
Voucher redemption
- All vouchers are valid only at Eat and Drink on Campus outlets and cannot be redeemed at Students' Union outlets.

- Voucher-specific terms, conditions and expiry dates will be stated on the individual voucher.
- Vouchers are non-transferable, non-exchangeable and cannot be redeemed for cash or any alternative.
- Only original vouchers will be accepted.
Promotion period
- The Higher or Lower game will run during advertised promotional periods and while stocks last.
- The University of Salford reserves the right to amend, suspend or withdraw the promotion at any time without prior notice.
Photography and marketing
- Photography and video content may be captured during promotional events.
- Participants may be invited to take part in photography or filming for promotional and marketing purposes. Participation in such activities is entirely voluntary.
Other terms
- This promotion is operated by the University of Salford ("the Promoter").
- The Promoter reserves the right to refuse participation where it reasonably believes a participant is ineligible or has acted contrary to these terms and conditions.
- The Promoter's decision is final in all matters relating to the promotion.
- Nothing in these terms and conditions shall limit or exclude the Promoter's liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law. Subject to this, the Promoter shall not be liable for any loss, damage or expense arising from participation in the promotion.
- These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
- Any disputes arising in connection with this promotion shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
