Terms and conditions for the University of Salford’s coffee bean branding competition, covering eligibility, submissions, and prize details.

Terms and conditions

Eligibility

  • Open to current students and staff of the University of Salford only.
  • Proof of university affiliation may be required to claim the prize such as a student of staff University of Salford email address.

How to enter

  • Coffee name ideas should be submitted via direct message to @uos_eatanddrink on Instagram.
  • There is no limit to the number of name submissions per person.

Competition period

  • Entries are open from Tuesday 6 May 2025 and close at 23:59 on Tuesday 20 May 2025.
  • Entries received after the closing time will not be considered.
  • The university reserves the right to withdraw or amend the competition at any time without prior notice.

Prize

  • One winner will receive one free barista-made hot or cold drink every day for a year.
  • Drinks can be redeemed at any Eat and Drink on Campus Café on the University of Salford campus.
  • Prize is non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash or any other alternative.

Prize redemption

  • The free drink offer is valid for 365 consecutive days from the date the winner is notified and receives their prize.
  • Only one drink can be redeemed per day. Unused days cannot be rolled over.
  • Drinks must be collected in person by the winner.
  • Please note that your personal information will be used to process your entry, to contact you about your entry and for the purpose outlined in the point below. Please also see our privacy policy for more details regarding how your personal information would be used.

Winner selection and announcement

  • The winning name will be selected by the Eat and Drink on Campus team.
  • The winner will be contacted via email.
  • You may be asked to participate in publicity relating to post-competition publicity if you are selected as a winner, although you have the option to decline if you so wish.

Name usage

  • The winning name will be used in branding for the new coffee offer.
  • This includes, but is not limited to: signage, logos, digital screens, social media content, promotional materials, and artwork around campus.
  • By submitting a name, you grant the University of Salford and Eat and Drink on Campus team full rights to use your submitted idea(s) in any future marketing and branding.

Other terms

  • This promotion is operated by the University of Salford (‘Promoter’).
  • Entrants grant a non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide license to include the winners details in post-competition promotion, subject to the winner not exercising their option to decline such involvement.
  • Entrants’ knowledge that the copyright in all submissions will be owned by the Promoter.
  • Entrants are deemed to certify that their entry is their own personal work and they have not had input from any friends, colleagues or relations, or artificial intelligence, or a professional design entity.
  • Entrants waive all moral rights in their submissions for the benefit of the Promoter. Further, entrants agree to assign to the Promoter, by way of a written document, separate to these terms and conditions, all intellectual property rights in their submission (if it wins) with full title guarantee and waives their moral rights in their submission.
  • While nothing in these terms and conditions will limit or exclude the Promoters liability for death or personal injury caused by its negligence or fraud, the Promoter will not be legally responsible to entrants or winners for any losses that were not foreseeable to the Promoter or to the entrant at the time of entry to the competition, or which are caused by a third party.
  • The laws of England and Wales apply to these terms and conditions.
  • Any dispute would be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England.
