Study for a research degree

At Salford Business School, we aim to deliver impactful business solutions through cutting-edge, applied research that challenges current thinking within business and law.

We foster a stimulating, aspirational and supportive research environment for students engaged across a variety of disciplines and in line with business, community and public policy needs.

Your supervision team - made up of a supervisor and co-supervisor with expertise in your topic area and methodology, along with a personal tutor for pastoral care - will guide and mentor you through your research programme.

As a postgraduate researcher at the University of Salford, you can take advantage of an extensive range of development activities.  This includes Salford Postgraduate and Staff Research Training (SPoRT) which is designed to help you develop the skills you need for effective research, and transferable skills to enhance your employability.

The Salford Postgraduate Annual Research Conference – SPARC  – offers a space for postgraduate researchers from all disciplines to exchange ideas while developing confidence and presentation skills.

The impact of our research
Our researchers are involved in projects that deliver business solutions and which impact on everyday life. For example, statisticians helped create the official player rating scores for the Premier League, and they also validate that the National Lottery draw is indeed random.
