Creating a fairer world for all
At Salford, our research is breaking down barriers, building social justice and fostering a fairer and more inclusive community where opportunity and equity thrive for all.
We enrich lives by exploring the root cause of health inequalities, supporting marginalised communities to address social exclusion, working with policy makers to co-create equitable opportunities, and ensuring new technologies like AI are used in an ethical and responsible way.

We are uniquely positioned at the heart of the community, with strong links to the NHS, criminal justice system, local authorities, charities and community groups. Through close collaboration, we are able to get to the root cause of some of those inequities and injustices.
It starts in Salford. A place where ideas are formed that shape the world.
Currently, a quarter of our research outputs at Salford are focussed on social justice-related themes, through projects on tackling topics such as sustainability, social welfare and economic justice.
Reducing some of those systemic inequities is going to take time, but our ambition is that through strong, long-term collaboration and leveraging our position at the heart of the community, we will build a legacy that shapes a fairer world for us all.
