University of Salford rises 28 places in Guardian University Guide 2027

The Guardian University Guide is one of the UK's most student-focused league tables, placing strong emphasis on factors that support student success, including teaching quality, assessment and feedback, continuation, and graduate outcomes.

The result is particularly meaningful because it reflects the experiences and achievements of our students. Their ambition, resilience and success sit at the heart of this achievement.

This significant leap is also testament to the dedication of colleagues across the University who work every day to create opportunities, remove barriers and help students thrive during their studies and beyond graduation.

Alongside the overall rise in the rankings, several subject areas have seen exceptional improvements. Highlights include:

• Computer Science, rising from 105th to 53rd
• Physiotherapy, ranked 5th nationally
• Physics, ranked 8th nationally
• Social Work, ranked 8th nationally
• Mental Health Nursing, ranked 8th nationally
• Interior Design, ranked 9th nationally
• Fashion, ranked 10th nationally

Career prospects are a key part of the methodology and have undoubtedly contributed to this strong result. Over 77% of our students are in highly skilled employment or further study - and we’re aiming even higher!
