It was an award-winning weekend for Salford’s television societies as Shock and Quays both travelled to the National Student Television Awards (NaSTAs).

After being shortlisted for a range of awards, the students headed across to Loughborough on Sunday 29 March to network with some of the best student television stations in the country.

Quays TV came away with an impressive four awards – two in the gold category and two in silver.

Gracie Jones, BA Journalism (Broadcast) student and Head of Social Media at Quays TV won gold for On-Screen Talent and secured another in the Light Entertainment division for her show Soap Dish alongside co-presenter and BA Television and Radio Production student Jess Buckley.

Freya Johnson, Deputy station manager and BA Journalism student, said: “A lot of hard work goes into all of our productions, and we cannot thank everyone enough.

“Gracie Jones is such an inspiration, and I am beyond ecstatic for her winning Best On-Screen Talent.

“Quays is all about pitching new ideas and seeing them flourish. No matter your experience, you can give it a go and learn new skills.”

Shock TV had their most successful night at the awards yet claiming Bronze for Broadcaster of the Year for the first time ever. Alongside this, BA Film Production student Ben Formosa was presented with a Bronze for Production Talent.

To round off their night, Shock TV also went on to win Gold in Technical Innovation after a summer of hard work delivering a studio rebuild.

Isabel Corbridge, BA Film Production student & Head of Shock, said: “Myself, Alfie Mulcahy, Aaron Walkden, and Alex Foreman spent most of the summer and September completely rewiring a new multimedia studio for the station this year.

“We all had an amazing time away and loved every moment of the award ceremony.”

The seven wins from this year follows on from the four awards that Quays TV took home at the 2025 awards in Southampton and the three awards that Shock TV and Quays TV won at the 2024 edition in Manchester.
