Salford alumnus cast as The Doctor in new Doctor Who series

Miles Taylor (pictured right), who graduated from our BA Television and Radio Production programme in 2022, will play the Eleventh Doctor, as played on screen by Matt Smith, in a new drama Doctor Who - The Eleventh Doctor Adventures: The First Question.

The official audiobook is set to be released by Big Finish Productions in March 2026 with Miles partnered with the Doctor Who TV show’s actress Jasmine Bayes (pictured left), who will play the role of new companion, Eleanor Fong.

Miles is a dedicated Whovian who has been making self-made Doctor Who content on YouTube for years.

He said: “What an honour it is to be stepping into the boots of the Eleventh Doctor and Matt Smith. I’m chuffed to bits to be flying the TARDIS in his wake, it’s a real dream come true! I think I watched The Eleventh Hour every day in the week after it went out, so the Smith era really does hold such a special place in my heart.

“It was a delight to finally get into the recording studio and wave my hands about, with our wonderful cast and crew. Working with Jasmine has been a proper joy; the energy she brought was infectious, we had a ridiculously fun time!

“I can’t wait for people to come along on our adventures – and hope they have as much fun as we did making them. I honestly feel incredibly lucky and privileged to be a part of it all.”

Nicholas Briggs, Creative Director at Big Finish Productions, said: “We had a long, long search for a new Eleventh Doctor voice. We heard many auditions. Then someone pointed us in the direction of Miles, we so we auditioned him, and he was truly marvellous in the role.”

Miles has been working as a Media Hub Technical Operator at dock10 in MediaCity since graduating and has also worked on the television shows Waterloo Road and The Voice.
