Nations and Regions: Media Futures 2020 returns for creative careers panel sessions

Categories: School of Arts, Media and Creative Technology

Nations and Regions: Media Futures 2020 is back with two more industry insider events to inspire and engage, in association with BBC Digital Cities.

On Tuesday 24 November we will be delving into  How to Succeed as a Development Producer. Our industry panel of executives and producers will be explaining why this route into the media might be right for you. Creative Directors Pam Cavanagh and Dympna Jackson from Purple Productions and Development Producers Claire Judge and Fabian Tahgian from True North will make up the panel, with Lyndon Saunders, Programme Leader for BA TV and Radio Production from the University of Salford taking on the role of chair.

Beth Hewitt, Creative Director – Media City Directorate, said: “I'm delighted that Purple Production and True North will be joining us to explore the world of creating ideas for TV and explaining just what being a development researcher and producer really does entail. Chaired by Salford's very own Lyndon Saunders, it’s set to be a fast-paced session and the panel will be answering all those questions you've always wanted to ask, live!”

Then on Wednesday 25 November we are bringing you a revealing four-hour session into the media courses and pathways into creative careers. With a focus on animation, film production, film studies, games design, journalism, post-production and VFX and television and radio production, there’s something for everyone. You will have the opportunity to hear from our recent graduates talking about their time at university, the steps they took after graduating and how they have made a name for themselves as Rising Stars in their chosen industry.

Beth added: “'This is a great opportunity to find out which course is for you and to hear from the lecturers and students about what it's really like to study at the University of Salford, based in the heart of MediaCityUK, next door to BBC, Dock 10 and ITV plus many smaller media organisations”.
