The University of Salford is immensely saddened to learn of Aya Hachem’s tragic death following an incident in Blackburn on Sunday 17 May. Aya was a very popular and promising second year student whose contribution went beyond the classroom.
Paolo Sandro, a tutor of Aya’s described how: “Aya was not just an incredibly bright and dedicated student, but also a constant source of positive energy for the people around her. It will be impossible to forget her smile every time she would come into one of our offices to deepen her understanding of law, or simply to have a chat about life. Her senseless death leaves us completely and utterly devastated."
Dr Janice Allan, Dean of Salford Business School added: “Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this difficult and distressing time.”
Students can contact the askUS:Wellbeing service or the University Chaplains for support during this difficult time.
