For the last six years, the annual Create Student Awards has been the flagship end of year celebratory event for the University of Salford’s School of Arts, Media and Creative Technology. The ten prizes recognise and formally commend the incredible achievements and successes of final year and postgraduate students, plus our alumni.
Last night (Wednesday 20 June) our 2021 edition went online for the second time to congratulate and applaud our astonishing 32 finalists. Once again so many students, colleagues, alumni and industry partners tuned into the Salford School of Arts, Media and Creative Technology Facebook page and dedicated website to see our winners announced live.
In his closing remarks, Dean of the School of Arts and Media Professor Allan Walker said: “Judging the Create Student Awards is one of the great highlights of my year as Dean. Now in its sixth edition, year-on-year the achievements are stunning, perhaps more so this year, given the challenges everyone has faced. Create Student Awards, as always, provide a wonderful opportunity to spotlight and showcase our students and I’m delighted we’re able to celebrate the talent which has been displayed over the last year. I was immensely impressed by the stories and academic journeys behind all 92 nominations we received. With increasing numbers of finalists, selecting the shortlist and winners was very difficult.”
“I wish all finalists and winners every success in the next stages of your careers as University of Salford graduates. You are all exceptional individuals and I believe your futures are brighter than ever.”
Sam Ingleson, Associate Dean: Engagement & Enterprise, said: “I am a delighted to, once again, be involved in the judging of the annual Create Student Awards and, as in previous years, the quality of applications has been of a very high standard. The purpose of the Awards is to recognise the activities that our students undertake not just within their degree subject and study areas, but across the wider School and University through engagement with external communities and industry partners.
“It was wonderful to read how students have still been actively engaged with industry based external opportunities and have represented the School at the highest level, despite the backdrop of the various lockdown restrictions everyone has contended with this year.”
