Alumni nominated for New Voice Award
A Salford media and performance graduate was nominated for a New Voice Award.
Media and Performance alumni, Charlotte Cropper, was nominated for the Future Presenter Award at the New Voice Awards 2022.
Charlotte graduated from Salford last year and is a supported artist by the New Adelphi.
She said: “It was a massive surprise to be shortlisted; I haven't done many "official" presenting projects and so I was thrilled that my showreel had interested and entertained the judges enough to go forward in the process. I have always loved presenting and it's been brilliant to take that one step closer to the industry through the Edinburgh TV Festival's New Voice Awards.”
Some of the other categories that were included in the New Voice Awards were: Best Social Series, Best production Company for New Talent, Debut Director Award and Debut Presenter. Charlotte was up against, Sophie Ward, Salina Zaher, Charley Marlowe, Kate Whitaker and Jameel Shariff.
Charlotte said: “I found out by getting tagged into the Edinburgh TV Festival's Twitter post announcing the shortlisted Future Presenters. I saw my name on the graphic and did a victory dance. It was so exciting to see myself on the shortlist alongside so many amazing creatives who are smashing it in the industry.
“I wasn't planning to go to the awards ceremony as it was in London but thankfully, the stars aligned for me, and I was able to attend my first ever industry gathering. Although I did not win the overall award (it went to the fabulous Jameel Shariff!), getting shortlisted was the real victory for me, and everything else has been just a lovely bonus.”
